Senior Leadership

As the founder and CEO of Sureste, Michael has led the growth in the company to more than $500 million in assets and $300 million in new multifamily and build to rent development in process. A well-known expert in the field, Michael has more than 30 years’ experience in the finance and real estate world, working with companies such as Price Waterhouse and Security Pacific Bank before founding Sureste. As a principal Michael has acquired and financed more than $1.2 Billion in acquisitions and development deals for industrial, multi-family, and single-family development.

Prior to starting Sureste, Michael was a Senior Vice President and Deputy to the Vice Chairman at Security Pacific where he was responsible for over 13 companies, including the Real Estate and Merchant Banking activities. Previous to that Michael was a Consultant in the International Tax and Consulting Division of Price Waterhouse and clients included Government of Singapore and other large Asia based companies acquiring US real estate.

Michael graduated from the San Diego State University and the prestigious University Honors Program, cum laude with a B.S. in Accounting. He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School OPM, is a CPA and holds a real estate brokers license. Michael also serves as a member of the Harvard Club of New York, Young Presidents Organization, YPO Gold Atlanta, and is a director of the Multi-family Housing Association.

Forrest is President and Chief Operating Officer of Sureste Property Group where he oversees the daily operations of the business with full profit and loss responsibilities.

Forrest D. Bailey was President and CEO of Draper and Kramer a $2 billion real estate company, Incorporated, a privately held property and Financial Service & Investment Firm for 20 years.  He has held positions as Chief Financial Officer, Director of Asset Management and as Commercial Mortgage Banker. 

Forrest’s career highlights include creating the first long term strategic plan for the vertically integrated property and financial service company focusing on organic growth, selecting acquisitions, dispositions, and consolidation of business operations.  He reinvented and re-energized the Family Business Enterprise (FBE), including repositioning businesses across several industries plus direct investments in real estate to withstand temporal and financial changes.  Achieved 5X growth in Net Asset Value (NAV) of the FBE doubling and redoubling each decade. 

Forrest has 25 years of Board experience including positions as Vice Chair, Governance committee and Audit committee and is well schooled in governance and family businesses.  He is a member of the Housing and Development Committee of the Metropolitan Planning Council, Chicago Central Area Committee, Board Member of Ryan Banks Academy and former member of the Adler Corporate Advisory Council, FNMA Illinois Partnership Office Advisory Council, College Visiting Committee of the University of Chicago. 

Forrest holds a BA and an MBA with a specialization in finance and accounting from the University of Chicago. 

Simon is the CRO of Sureste Property Group and a Director of DCM Real Estate. Simon is responsible for driving revenue across the portfolio and brings more than 25 years of experience to the team.

Since 2018, Simon has helped the company acquire and operate more than $400 million in assets. Prior to his time at Sureste, Simon co-founded Direct Lending Advisors, one of the first Fintech-focused investment funds, which was successfully sold to a large asset manager. Simon also served as the Senior Director of Marketing for Office Depot’s $2 Billion Direct Response division where he reported directly to the EVP of Global. Currently residing in the United States, Simon was born in the UK and is a graduate of London Metropolitan University.

Billy is President of Sureste Property Services he is leads our property services teams and is responsible for the exceptional property services our teams provide to our residents and the operations behind that service, that encompass all property operations.

Billy is an Army Veteran who prior to joining Sureste he was responsible for upwards of 10,000 units working with privately owned conventional properties, personally owned properties, and Military Managed properties (single family homes, multifamily homes, apartments, and Unaccompanied Housing) for service members, retirees, and civilian residents.

Billy graduated from Upper Iowa University, with his Bachelor of Science in Public Administration. In addition, he holds an MBA, Cum Laude from Upper Iowa University.

Chris leads our Construction department with responsibility for design management, pre-construction activities, general contractor selection, procurement, and logistics, and oversees delivery of horizontal and vertical construction.

Chris has over 30 years’ experience in construction and civil engineering, spanning major urban mixed-use developments on an international scale with a value of more than £20 Billon. Among Chris’ many notable projects are various aspects of the 2012 London Olympic Park including the Athletes Village, the Chelsea Harbour development, and the Canary Wharf district. Chris graduated from the University of Sussex (U.K.) with a degree in Civil Engineering.

Dharmattie Brush is Senior Vice President of People & Operations, responsible for leading and managing the HR and Business Operations functions at Sureste Property Group. Her focus is driving efficiency in programs, practices and initiatives needed to fuel the strategy and growth of our business through our people. Her contributions to supporting and reinforcing a positive culture will be invaluable as we continue to grow and expand our company!

Dharmattie started her business career at Americas Mart, Atlanta, (a John Portman Company) where she served as Vice President of Technology. She has 25 plus years of business operations and technology experience. She is a graduate of Georgia State University with a degree in Business Administration and she also holds a master’s in psychology.

Thomas has extensive experience in acquiring multifamily properties with a specific focus on value-add investments. Thomas serves as the Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and a Member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Prior to serving in this role, Thomas founded Iron Oak Residential, LLC, a multifamily investment firm that acquired 595 multifamily units in Columbia, SC. Thomas has overseen the acquisition of over 4,000 multifamily units throughout his career. Thomas began specializing in multifamily investing at Value Partners, joining the firm as an acquisitions analyst and quickly rising to the vice president of acquisitions role.

Thomas’ real estate investment career began at American Realty Capital—formerly one of the largest asset managers of nontraded REITs—raising more than $250 million annually for one of the top-five territories among more than 90 nationwide.

Thomas holds an MBA from Bryant University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Providence College

Tim is responsible for all Build to Rent land acquisitions in the Southeast market targeted by Sureste Development.

He has more than 25-years of diverse real estate experience in acquisitions and development throughout the Southeast. Prior to joining Sureste, Tim held acquisitions and development positions with a variety of national and regional developers. These included leadership positions with Meritage Homes, and KB Home, both Top 10 Builders. At ABG Development, a privately held Atlanta based company, Tim was the architect of revising the firm’s economic model from a suburban residential developer to an urban sub-market developer of high density residential and mixed-use projects, leading to an eventual backlog of almost 1600 lots in the company pipeline.

To date, Tim has acted as the spearhead to a Sureste BTR pipeline of over $59 Million in acquisitions value, representing just under 3,400 potential units, and $740 Million in development valuation.

Tim is a licensed real estate broker and a graduate of Winthrop University, having obtained a BA in History.

George is President and Director of Sureste Capital Management Ltd. George has profit and loss responsibility for Europe including the DCM bond program, asset management, investment banking and trading. George brings more than 26 years of international experience to the team having worked for leading financial companies such as Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers, Barclays, C-BASS and Washington Mutual.

Prior to his time at Sureste, George was a founding member and Chairman of Euro Credit Risk, a European Advisory and Due Diligence platform. Since 2016, George was Director and European Head of Advisory and Due Diligence for MIAC.  In this role, George advised on transactions in 21 countries totaling over€15 billion across 11 asset classes.  At least half of these transactions were in FinTech.

George’s career highlights include being part of MBO backed by Barclays that sold to Lehman Brothers.  During this time, George issued 8 securitizations under the Preferred Residential Securities program and achieved an RPS1 servicer rating. He spearheaded the acquisition of a German bank to take advantage of Germany’s Pfandbriefe covered bond securitization program. George worked with GE to develop a credit insurance policy that protected investors against bad debt.  

George was born in America and studied business at the University of Maryland and Credit Finance at Marquette University, he resides in Miami and London. 

Advisory Board and Partners

Henry has over 45 years of experience with the operation and financing of a diverse range of entrepreneurial companies.  From starting and managing a successful Public Accounting firm to founding wireless communications and leading-edge energy companies. Henry has a BA degree in Accounting and Finance from Southeastern Louisiana University, Henry began his career in 1969 at Ernst and Young, a well-respected International Certified Public Accounting firm. 

Steve was CEO of Ecolane, a Helsinki-based company prior to Ecolane Steve was the CEO of National Investment Managers until its successful sale to a Private Equity firm.  Under his leadership, National Investment Managers became the largest independent retirement services company in the U.S. with more than $11 billion in assets under administration and operations in 17 cities nationwide.   Steve was the CEO of National Investment Managers until its successful sale to a Private Equity firm. Under his leadership, National Investment Managers became the largest independent retirement services company in the U.S. with more than $11 billion in assets under administration and operations in 17 cities nationwide.  

Steve is an alumnus of Harvard University and a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Sureste Team

Alana is responsible for creating and managing schedules for construction employees. She works closely with the GM of construction to create and manage project timelines for all project requests that come from the communities.

Alana holds her Masters in Cybersecurity from the Florida Institute of Technology and her bachelor’s of International Business from the University of Tampa. Alana is also fluent in Spanish

As a Development Manager, Alexis coordinates of all aspects of the development process for Sureste’s new construction projects from the point of PSA execution on through stabilization. Her work encompasses the due diligence, design, permitting and construction phases to ensure continuity and to provide a single point of contact and institutional knowledge for her portfolio of properties. She is actively overseeing the ground up construction of $400 Million in multifamily and build-for-rent product development, primarily focused on Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina.

Alexis has more than a decade of experience encompassing both the legal and practical aspects of real estate transactions and development. She has worked on a broad range of development projects ranging from for-sale townhomes to senior living communities and VA clinics. Previously she has also acted as a prosecutor in real estate license law regulation for the State of Illinois and prior to that, as the manager of a boutique residential real estate brokerage in the Atlanta market.

Alexis received her Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University.

With over 20 years of experience in C-Suite executive support and a track record of strong performance in high-volume, high-pressure environments, Alicia skillfully plans manages, and directs all administrative and operational activities for the office of the CEO. Alicia’s expertise in project coordination and event management makes her an invaluable asset to the organization. Prior to joining SPG, she served as the EA to executives across industries such as chemical manufacturing and private equity investments.

Alicia is active in the community and volunteers her time at #HashtagLunchBag and other organizations through Hands on Atlanta.

Brandon is responsible for the underwriting of all new acquisitions and developments. His responsibilities also include the asset management and dispositions of Sureste’s portfolio. While at Sureste, Brandon has been a part of the acquisition and disposition of more than $300 million of multifamily assets.

Prior to Sureste, Brandon worked as an analyst at Greystone, where he successfully underwrote and originated $250 million of agency debt. Prior to Greystone, Brandon was an analyst at Marcus & Millichap. During his tenure, he helped arrange the disposition of more than $650 million of real estate assets on behalf of major corporate, institutional, and private owners. Brandon graduated from Florida State University, cum laude with his Bachelor of Science in Finance. In addition, he holds a Master of Real Estate Development from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Claudelene is Accounts Payable Manager that leads the Accounts Payable Team in TAHCHE in conjunction with the Controller. This hands-on role is responsible for ensuring the daily processing of payables as well as recording and processing all account payable activities.

Claudelene holds a Master’s in Business Administration and Accounting.

Glenn is responsible for ensuring that all tasks involving payables for Sureste are completed.

Iesha is responsible the balance between maintaining relationships and guaranteeing timely payments. Iesha possesses outstanding communication and negotiation skills as well as in-depth knowledge of laws and policies as it relates to debt collections.

Iesha joined Sureste after achieving her Bachelor of Social Work from Miles College in Birmingham.

Jamie is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and supervision to service crews ensuring that we they deliver excellent craftsmanship and value for services rendered. Jamie has over 20 years of experience in Project Management and Multifamily.

Jamie holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from The University of Maryland European Division-West Germany.

Jason is responsible for tracking and managing legal matters and their related expenses. As a junior attorney he will identify trends and problem areas; recommend courses of action to promote efficiency and cost-effective measures.

Jason has over 10 years of legal experience and holds his Bachelor of Arts in political Science and Juris Doctor from University of San Carlos.

As a Development Manager, Kaeli coordinates all aspects of the development process for Sureste’s new construction projects from the point of PSA execution on through stabilization. Her work encompasses the due diligence, design, permitting and construction phases to ensure continuity and to provide a single point of contact and institutional knowledge for her portfolio of properties.

Kaeli joined the Sureste team in February of 2022 as Acquisition Marketing Manager. Her diverse background in property management has made her a valuable asset to the development team.

Kathleen “Dolly” is the Regional Director of Property Management for Florida, Alabama and Build to Rent communities. She is responsible for directing and overseeing the overall operations of her region.

Dolly is a Navy Veteran with over 25 years of property management experience working with privately owned conventional properties, personally owned properties, and Military Managed properties (single family homes, multifamily homes, apartments, and Unaccompanied Housing) for service members, retirees, and civilian residents. Prior to joining the Sureste team Dolly was a project manager for the US Navy, managing a portfolio of nearly 8700 homes throughout the Southeast.

Lena is the Regional Director of Property Management her portfolio includes communities throughout Georgia and South Carolina totally upwards of 3,000 units. She is responsible for directing and overseeing the overall operations of her region.

Lena has over 20 years in the multi-family industry with experience in a variety of roles such as physical Inspector, Quality Control Specialist, HUD MOR Auditor,

Compliance Auditor, Compliance Specialist, Compliance Trainer, Asset Manager, Regional Manager, District Manager, as well as a Property Manager.

Lisa is responsible for all Construction and Property accounting and reporting. Supervise the daily process for accounting.

Lisa has over 20 years of Real Estate experience in acquisitions, development, renovations, and property management. Prior to joining Sureste she was an Accounting Manager for the Atlanta Braves, managing the construction and development accounting of the Battery. Held positions at Meritage Homes overseeing the accounting for the Atlanta Division, JRK Residential as Regional Director of Operations for Southeast Region.

Lisa has a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati, Master’s in Accounting and Finance from University of Maryland and certified Project Management Professional from Emory University.

Meniya is responsible the balance between maintaining relationships and guaranteeing timely payments. Meniya possesses outstanding communication and negotiation skills as well as in-depth knowledge of laws and policies as it relates to debt collections.

Meniya has been a part of our Sureste team for 4 years.

Rickidah is responsible for supporting HR, Executive Admin and Sureste Development. Prior to joining the Sureste team she was a Client Services Coordinator at ADP. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Clayton State University.

Rickzal ensures that the financial statements for their portfolio are completed timely and accurately.  This includes, detailed review of monthly financial statements and general ledger, along with reviewing daily transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies. Accountants assist the Property Management teams with the completion of Annual Budgets and Reconciliations.

Theresa holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of San Carlos.

Tia is responsible for the accuracy and compliance of all property documents. As an compliance specialist Tia has experience in customer service, leasing and marketing and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Bradley University.

Yolanda is responsible for leading the Accounts Payable Team. This hands-on role is responsible for ensuring the daily processing of payables as well as recording and processing all account payable activities.

Yolanda has over 15 years of Real Estate Accounting experience and holds her Bachelor of Accounting from Wayne State University.
